Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer III will provide hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up, and debugging of high-speed cable manufacturing process equipment. This role involves collaboration with a multi-functional team, applying mechanical principles in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design to ensure efficient design, production, operation, and use of machinery.
Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate tasks and work plans for team members to meet customer schedules.
- Provide hands-on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Support the start-up and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
- Verify equipment build and layout against engineering drawings.
- Coordinate the installation plan with safety and plant operations.
- Collaborate with Client's engineers and vendors to resolve installation discrepancies.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices.
- Update drawings and equipment documentation as necessary.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role, particularly in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience with mechanical equipment design, installation, start-up, and debugging.
- Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.).
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams.
- Capable of multitasking and working with minimal direction.
- Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, process, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with high-speed cable manufacturing equipment (jacketing, ribbon stranding, buffering) is a plus but not required.
- Experience managing mechanical and electrical trades during equipment installation and debugging.
