Why You'll Love This Job We are seeking a motivated individual to join our CC - Cedar Creek site's Engineering team based in Fayetteville, NC. The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Engineer position will be results driven and motivated by challenges; they will use excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and interpersonal communication skills to provide technical expertise and support across all functions of site operations. Responsibilities The Mechanical Engineer will be reportable to their assigned Technical Leaderand have responsibilities within the following key areas:
  • Manage operating area mechanical reliability improvement projects and programs
  • Work on Capital project creation/management
  • Assist with Predictive Maintenance Programs (vibration analysis, ultrasonic inspection, tribology)
  • Help with maintenance effectiveness evaluations: Trend and analyze performance data and gather maintenance history
  • Assist maintenance planning/scheduling: Develop and implement systems for scheduling and documenting the performance of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and calibrations.
  • Assist with ASME code vessel and piping additions and repairs
  • Work with vendors/OEMs on troubleshooting and equipment repairs
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis - develop and direct-action plans
  • Present and justify data, findings, and projects to leadership
  • Devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles
  • Provide technical support to technology licensing projects as required
  • Adhere to procedures that promote safety, health and welfare for employees and contractors within the facility
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1+ years' internship or co-op experience required
  • 2-5 years' experience in a chemical manufacturing facility preferred
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding technical manuals and engineering documentation
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong communication /interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project a plus
  • Able to travel up to 5% - overnight and international travel
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the following is desirable:
    • S ealing systems for agitators, pumps, and other rotary equipment
    • Predictive Technologies
    • Vibration Analysis
    • Tribology, Infra-Red and Ultrasonic Programs
    • Preventive Maintenance
    • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
    • Planning and Scheduling
    • Root Cause Failure Analysis
    • Machine Design
    • Solid mechanics, stress analysis, machine dynamics
    • Material Science, heat treatment, corrosion/erosion
