Responsibilities
- Drive projects forward throughout design and construction phases.
- Design various mechanical systems including air side and water side design, central plant, variable air volume and constant air volume systems, small and large HVAC systems, VRF systems, etc.
- Construction assistance including shop drawing review, contractor relations, and site surveys.
- Lead and participate in meetings of clients, state agencies, city agencies, utility service representatives and project teams.
- Deliver projects in compliance with client and company quality control procedures and engineering guidelines.
- Preparation of mechanical construction cost estimates.
- Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines.
- Coordination and verification of as-built drawings.
- Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including HVAC floor plans, schematic diagrams, load calculations, Comcheck calculations, controls, details and specifications for the project.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Professional Mechanical Engineering design experience.
- Registered PE in the state of Texas.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A thorough understanding of mechanical building codes and construction standards.
- Strong understanding of DDC controls and controls design and operation.
- Ability to think strategically and demonstrate flexibility to achieve long-range objectives.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM and Energy Modeling.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex problems and to collaborate with others to explore alternative solutions.
