Where You'll Work - Electric Motors Division (EMD)

The Electric Motors Division makes innovative transverse flux electric motors for a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) applications.

Job Purpose

To define and develop products used in electric motor and drive systems. Position involves multiple project responsibilities from motor specification to manufacturing implementation.

Essential Duties

* Perform Engineering tasks in the development of new product.

* Participate in the development of product specification and conceptual designs.

* Analyze designs through methods including simulation, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis, cost optimization, and risk assessment.

* Guide development process to produce practical designs through DFM principles and manufacturing process development.

* Qualify product designs through test development, data analysis, and experimental design.

* Identify and design to applicable performance and safety standards.

* Create and review detailed design drawings and work instructions.

* Leader of product development projects as required.

* Track, measure, and organize data corresponding to prototype and pilot builds.

* Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status.

* Manage project to meet schedules, including:

* Communicating with internal team members, customers, suppliers, and outside agencies to aid in spec development, product design, and qualification efforts

* Working with other team members to ensure satisfactory completion of all steps in the development process

* Identification and communication of threats to schedule to appropriate management

* Conduct design reviews, safety reviews, etc.

* Direct and perform standard product support activities such as:

* Analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products

* Troubleshooting product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites

* Initiating corrective action activities

* Learn, participate in the development, and apply knowledge of:

* Stay abreast of developments in the technical field to maintain technical knowledge

* Operational systems

* Graco and industry design standards

* Graco Quality Management System

* Emerging trends in our customers' markets

* Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

* BS degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent as approved by the divisional engineering management group

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Excellent engineering/technical aptitude

* Minimum of 1.5 years' experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to independently produce innovative and successful designs
