Job Description:

Delta is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer for our downtown Chicago office.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a background in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for building systems. A qualified candidate shall demonstrate responsible care and autonomy in completing routine responsibilities of design, modeling, specifications, and contract drawings.

Candidate shall serve as project engineer on large projects, or project manager on smaller assignments. Most projects will require direct coordination with clients in addition to internal collaboration with other disciplines.

Delta's MEP team works on a wide variety of building types including transit, aviation, higher education, healthcare, municipal, office, parking garages, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed mechanical design for building systems: HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection
  • Develop contract documents (cost estimates, specifications, equipment schedules,etc) in accordance with client standards
  • Attend site visits and client meetings
  • Organize both physical and digital project documentation
  • Prepare new and modify existing drawings in AutoCAD and/or REVIT
  • Coordinate with project team members including engineers, technicians, and management
  • Participate in QA/QC process to maintain the quality of work completed by staff
  • Prioritize tasks and balance workload according to project needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. Preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience
  • Illinois PE license required
  • Experience with of ASHRAE standards
  • Experience with HVAC calculation software tools
  • Experience with 2D drafting in AutoCAD and 3D modeling in Revit
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite
