Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a critical role in designing complex mounting systems and device docks for manufacturing using methods such as injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal stamping. You will collaborate directly with customers to define design requirements for custom projects, source hardware and components from vendors, and oversee the drawing creation, approval, and feedback process. This role demands strong technical skills, effective communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design complex mechanical parts and assemblies, ensuring manufacturability using injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, and other methods.
- Collaborate directly with customers to gather design requirements and provide innovative solutions tailored to their needs.
- Generate and review detailed 2D drawings, ensuring compliance with technical and quality standards.
- Source hardware and other components from vendors, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications.
- Lead the drawing approval and feedback process, ensuring designs are optimized and meet both customer and internal requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and engineering technicians.
- Participate in prototype testing and fitment checks to validate designs and support iterative improvements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-paced environment while maintaining high-quality outputs.
Requirements:
- Possess a strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated hands-on project experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, die casting, and sheet metal stamping.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and vendors.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical and efficient design solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in custom product design and working with customers to define technical requirements.
- Familiarity with sourcing and communication with vendors.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus on complex part design.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $115,000
