Compensation Range: $80,000 - $120,000 - Onsite - South DFW
Position Summary:
Apply engineering principals in the design, development and manufacturing of explosive devices, safely and in accordance with company procedures. Must comply with safety, regulatory and quality policies at all times. This position requires on-site presence and regular attendance to perform the essential duties.

• Work on New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to design, develop, test and manufacture explosive devices.
• Provide engineering support to HSE, Quality, Compliance, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain and other business units as required.
• Work within their level of experience to maximize their contributions to the company.
• Plan, schedule and execute tasks and projects in accordance with business strategies and objectives.
• At all levels of experience, work as a project owner which includes Planning, Scheduling, Goal Setting, Execution, Design, Testing, Record Keeping and obtaining the required approvals to progress the project, identifying and mitigating obstacles and understanding risks associated with the project.
• Utilize their experience and knowledge of Energetic materials to evaluate safety, design and test explosive devices and materials, and communicate technical concepts of explosives to technical and non-technical individuals.

The Ballistics Engineer II typically takes ownership of two or more technically challenging projects which may take more than one year to complete. These projects require Project Owners with a good foundation of product and process applications, explosive knowledge, safety, testing, troubleshooting and proven project execution. The Ballistics Engineer II works with their customers, peers and more experienced engineers to research and clarify problem definition and overall needs, and existing solutions. The Ballistics Engineer II then leads evaluation of design concepts, risks, safety and test plans and contributes to the business analysis of projects. The Ballistics Engineer II can overcome many obstacles without the need to elevate them to a higher level. The Ballistics Engineer II has a strong understanding of business ethics and has developed good interpersonal skills. The Ballistics Engineer II advocates explosive and process safety and is proficient in HSE, Regulatory Compliance and Quality Systems. The Ballistics Engineer II has developed an advanced understanding of explosive design principles for one major product line and helps advise and train less experienced Ballistics Engineers and Technicians. The Ballistics Engineer II attends industry events to gain a better understanding of the industry and perforating systems and may contribute on technical papers and presentations.
The Ballistics Engineer III typically takes ownership of several technically advanced projects which may take several years to complete or projects that are highly specialized. These projects require Project Owners with mastery of explosive design of one major product line or advanced understanding of engineering principles across multiple major product lines and perforating systems and have mastered project execution. The Ballistics Engineer III manages many projects by leveraging their experience and maximizing their productivity and efficiency by delegating tasks and utilizing many resources including Ballistic Technicians, Drafters and other support roles. The Ballistics Engineer III rarely needs to elevate obstacles to a higher level.
Work Environment / Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work settings range from clean indoor lab to unprotected outdoor environments. The employee frequently works with or around explosives. This involves handling packaged/boxed explosives as well as instructing customers in the proper use, storage, and transportation of these explosives. While rare, any accident could be catastrophic and potentially result in injury or death to many employees. The employee frequently works with powders, sometimes in a dusty environment and occasionally around fumes. Workers must not be overly sensitive (allergies, rashes, etc.) to working in these conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Required Skills for this Position
Education and Training
• Bachelor's degree, four (4) year, in Engineering, Science or equivalent field.
General Requirements
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in similar field.
Technical Requirements / Skills
• Knowledgeable in OSHA safety regulations, ATF & DOT explosives, transportation, storage and documentation requirements.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in safe procedures for arming explosive devices, and relevant sections of API RP-67, Recommended Practices for Oilfield Explosives Safety.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in relevant aspects of perforating gun assembly, operating procedures, and explosive safety.
• Can properly use measuring devices and make precise measurements using micrometers, calipers and weight scales.
• Familiar with and can work Microsoft Office Products (Word and Excel), able to manipulate photos in software and learn SolidWorks.
• Must be able to read, write and understand operating procedures, safety procedures and test procedures.
• Must be very observant and detail oriented.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be able to do neat, comprehensive reports on activities.
• Must be able to self-motivate and work with little to no supervision.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
• Must have a valid driver's license and record that conforms to company's insurance policies, ATF, DOT, and State or other required Hazmat training.
Work Authorization / Security Clearance:
• Able to meet ATF & regulatory security requirements.
• Must be US citizen, or lawful permanent resident of the United States (student Visa does not qualify), in accordance with ATF regulations.
