Job Description:
Join our growing SEL Panels team where we have the pleasure of integrating our SEL equipment into various panels for our end users. The types of panel size vary from retrofit plates to full size outdoor enclosures.As a Mechanical Engineer you will work with our customers and internal SEL Panels team consisting of designers, project managers, purchasing team, and our production team. Our project life cycle on average is 12-14 weeks. The project work consists of creating custom sheet metal parts, creating and/or reviewing drawings for production, as well as working closely with production while the project is being constructed.Continuous improvement using Lean, 6-sigma, and World Class Manufacturing principles is an important aspect of every jobe at SEL. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will lead and model these principles, as well as modeling the SEL core values every day.Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Perform the following mechanical engineering functions: assembly design plastic and metal part design tolerance studies design for manufacturability/assembly component selection and specification thermal analysis and design mechanical shock and vibration analysis2. Qualify and monitor component and custom part vendors.3. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material. Provide accurate labor and material estimates.4. Review, support, approve and provide recommendations for improvements to documentation, mechanical designs, and manufacturing process design.5. Write test plans, conduct design tests, and review results.6. Maintain current and accurate project notebooks.7. Mentor ME Interns, Designers, and Associate ME's.8. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.9. Understand. Create. Simplify.10. Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsB.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering2+ years' experience in three or more of the following areas: electromechanical packaging design heat transfer materials and processes mechanics computer-aided design electronic manufacturing techniquesStrong problem solving skillsStrong project management experienceStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skillsAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilitiesAbility to work cooperatively in a team environmentBackground check results satisfactory to SELNegative drug test result(s)Preferred Qualifications2+ years SolidWorks experienceEnvironmental testing experienceIndustrial plasticsThermal modellingFinite Element AnalysisPhysical RequirementsNoneCompetitive pay.
