At Vessel, we are committed to addressing one of the world's most pressing challenges-the global housing crisis. In 2024, we introduced the V1, a revolutionary solution that redefines affordable living. Beautifully designed, brilliantly engineered, sustainable, and built with health in mind, the V1 makes high-quality housing accessible to those who earn too much for subsidized housing but too little for market-rate options. We are backed by leading venture capitalists, such as Mosaic Ventures, and by the nation's preeminent homebuilder, Lennar, Inc. Vessel is growing rapidly, with scores of projects in planning, and we're looking for an exceptional Mechanical Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will be crucial in developing innovative, sustainable housing solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, process engineers, and project managers, to design and develop mechanical systems that align with our mission to revolutionize the housing industry. What You Will Do
- Design and develop mechanical systems for Vessel's prefabricated housing products, utilizing SolidWorks for 3D modeling, simulation, and design validation
- Collaborate with architects, process engineers, and other cross-functional teams to align designs with project requirements
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency of products
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulations to validate designs and ensure structural integrity
- Research and recommend materials, manufacturing processes, and energy-efficient solutions to improve product design
- Lead mechanical design projects, managing timelines and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery
- Ensure all designs comply with sustainability standards, industry regulations, and building codes
- Continuously seek out ways to optimize mechanical systems, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall performance
- Present design concepts and progress to leadership and project stakeholders, providing technical insights and recommendations
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree is a plus)
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, product design, or product development
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, simulation, and design validation
- Experience with DFM/DFA principles and an understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Strong knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient systems is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills for presenting design concepts and collaborating across teams
- Project management experience and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
