Mechanical Engineering Manager (Job ID: 1131-215)Position Summary and Purpose: Responsible for the technical aspects of our product lines. The liaison between marketing, whichspecifies the market needs, Engineering where this position will lead the design solutions, andmanufacturing, which produces these solutions.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Engineering Director in improving all factory processes and related metrics, production efficiency, cycle times, capacity, capabilities and others as needed.
  • Provides leadership to technical personnel to ensure ongoing product & process improvements to meet quality and production goals.
  • Provides direction to technical support as required for critical process and product issues.
  • Execute product design to meet company objectives (cost and timeliness)
  • Works closely with production and support teams as required
  • Develop and support new manufacturing processes
  • Develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Leads both NPI engineering and related functions to provide input and technical customer support in product design (DFX).
  • Analyze system requirements, capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine feasibility of a project and development plan.
  • Determine capital equipment needs & development of the budget process for equipment training, software, and equipment installation projects.
  • Partner with management team to ensure effective product development
  • Assists Quality Manager in identifying defect reduction initiatives
  • Coordinates the company's five year product plan
Education and Experience:REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or graduate work in business administration
  • Twelve or more years experience in the design of manufacturing equipment and coaching/growing technical teams
  • Project level work with emphasis in design for manufacturability and cost reduction
  • Experience with value stream mapping (VSM) D/PFMEA, DVP's and lean manufacturing
  • Cross training in mechanical, electrical and software controls

  • Strong leader, strategic thinker and problem solver.
  • Ability to combine a detailed technical knowledge with business functions, and operations management.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Work environment: Office environment with occasional visits to supplier locations and operational sites.The employee is occasionally exposed to non-air-conditioned temperatures in the manufacturing area, and occasionally moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
