Job Description: Mechanical Estimator (HVAC & Sheet-Metal)
The Sack Company, is looking for a Mechanical Estimator. Our company has been in business for 75 years providing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Millwright/Rigging expertise to clients throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
Position Overview: The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for sheet metal and HVAC projects in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for sheet metal and HVAC projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and develop comprehensive estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project requirements and objectives.
- Obtain and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain and update a database of historical cost data and industry pricing trends to support accurate estimating.
- Review and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates and provide recommendations for mitigation.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
- Prepare and present detailed estimate reports and bid proposals to clients and management.
- Stay current with industry developments, codes, and regulations to ensure estimates reflect the latest standards and practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating, specifically in sheet metal and HVAC systems within commercial and industrial construction.
- Proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and sheet metal systems, installation practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, AutoBid).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) designation is a plus.
