Job Title: Mechanical Field EngineerLocation: Mount Vernon, NYSalary Range: $85,000 to $100,000 depending on experienceJob Description:As a Mechanical Field Engineer at [Company Name], reporting to the VP - Mechanical Operations, you will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in overseeing and managing key aspects of large-scale commercial construction projects valued at over $50 million. This position provides hands-on involvement with managing contracts, sub-contractor relations, site logistics, and project documentation to ensure that projects run smoothly, on schedule, and within budget.Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee bid packages for sub-contractor involvement and ensure accuracy.
- Plan, organize, and staff key field positions through collaboration with regional department heads.
- Negotiate contracts with clients and owners, maintain positive relationships, and resolve disputes.
- Review and manage procurement logs, ensuring the progress of long lead items.
- Review subcontractor PCOs and prepare change order requests to the owner.
- Review RFI and submittal logs with Project Engineers.
- Liaise with prime clients and A/E contacts to facilitate project construction activities.
- Monitor and direct the on-site Superintendent to ensure the project meets the approved schedule and budget.
- Manage financial aspects, including fee payments, equipment rentals, and income/expense tracking, while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Monitor job site safety, taking necessary actions to address any deficiencies.
- Assist in preparing progress payments and obtaining required approvals.
- Develop cash flow projections with the Project Controller and submit them to the Home Office and Owner.
- Approve Time and Material rates.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 1-3+ years of relevant commercial construction experience on projects exceeding $50 million.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in Primavera P-6, Bluebeam, Procore, and MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in a fast-paced project environment.
