We are seeking a qualified inspector with QA or QC experience on large scale, type projects for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety trades.

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provide inspections and quality oversight to verify work being installed complies with the contract documents, building codes and industry standards
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the division(s) of work assigned
  • Work proactively with contractors, designer, and owner to identify and resolve issues to prevent rework and/or production delays
  • Prepare daily reports, review RFIs and submittals, perform mock-up reviews, develop and review punchlists, maintain testing and project logs, verify payment applications and schedules, verify as-built documents, coordinate work activities with owner stakeholders, assist other inspectors, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Possess a two-year degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology, and possess a current engineering engineer in training (EIT) license combined with 2 years' experience is required, preferably in the federal sector.

or

  • Possess a two-year degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology combined with 5 years' experience is required, preferably in the federal sector.
  • Construction training, experience, and/or coursework in building construction, mechanical or electrical engineering, project management or materials, or a combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates one's ability to perform the main responsibilities. Must be self-motivated, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work in a proactive team environment with other QA/QC team members.
  • Demonstrate 2 years' experience is startup, acceptance testing and performance field verification of commercial HVAC systems equipment including controls systems.
  • Knowledge of design principles, government criteria and industry codes and standards is required.
  • Must have advanced knowledge and understanding of drawings and specifications.
  • Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, project management information systems (PMIS) software such as Procore, eBuilder, etc., navigating electronic files for specifications and drawings, completing daily reports, and maintaining daily project records.
  • Experience with BIM is a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to walk long distances throughout the project site, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fingerprint-based criminal history background check, DMV driving record check, reference verification, and work history will be required prior to employment.
