Project Overview: Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel's government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF will be a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy's largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration's largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future. The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times, and may require employees to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and/or night shift as business needs arise. Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable. Job Summary: Assigned to the Construction organization in a supervisory capacity as an Instrumentation Superintendent. In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules, and budgets. #LI-CL1 Major Responsibilities: Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision up to 50 craft). Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft. Determines workforce requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site. Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive. Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents. Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals. Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors and Craft Professionals. Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Must be a US Citizen. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education. Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite. Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using surfaces and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and experience of DOE, DOD, and/or commercial nuclear construction projects is required. Must have a working knowledge of the Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and the related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Candidate should be a self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and be able to work well in a team environment. Candidate should have a good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as UPC, IBC, SMACNA, ASME, NFPA and NQA-1 requirements. Knowledge of environmental compliance standards required on NNSA/DOE projects.
