Job Description:

COMPANY BACKGROUND

ExxonMobil Corporation is the world's largest publicly held international energy company with operations on six continents. The Company's segments include Upstream, Product Solutions, and Corporate. The Upstream business explores for and produces crude oil and natural gas. The Product Solutions business manufactures and sells petroleum products and petrochemicals. ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions is helping to accelerate the world's path to net zero and building a compelling business initially focused on carbon capture and sequestration. With a $17 billion dollar investment in the business, Low Carbon Solutions is committed to reducing ExxonMobil's emissions, while helping high-emitting and hard-to-decarbonize sectors (like steel, cement and manufacturing) reduce theirs. ExxonMobil is also an industry technology leader with $1 billion invested each year in research and development.

ExxonMobil's role in the energy transition is to play to their strengths. Their core business has been supplying reliable, affordable energy at scale. They will continue doing that because there can be no disruption in the supplies of energy people need every day.

The energy industry plays a critical role in supporting economic growth and improving the quality of life for billions of people around the world. Over the next several decades, populations are projected to grow, and the middle class will continue to expand – dynamics that will further the demand for energy. Meeting this demand will require significant investment and new production in the energy sector. Increased demand for energy will also impact emission levels, which underscores the need to continue to pursue emission reduction efforts to mitigate the risks of climate change. ExxonMobil is helping address this dual challenge in a variety of ways through researching and developing next-generation technologies, developing products that help customers reduce their emissions, improving energy efficiency and advancing public policy solutions.

Worldwide, ExxonMobil markets products under four brands: Esso, Exxon, Mobil, and ExxonMobil Chemical.

GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE

Baton Rouge, LA: Located on the banks of the Mississippi river in southeastern Louisiana, Baton Rouge is the state capital with more than 800,000 residents (the second largest city in the state). Famous for its fusion of cultures, Southern hospitality, diverse cuisine and college football, it is also a significant port and a major industrial and petrochemical center.

ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge operations began in 1909 and have grown into an integrated complex that includes the Baton Rouge Refinery, the third largest refinery in the United States, the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant and several other plants and terminals. Its scope of products produced includes everything from traditional gasoline and diesel fuel to sophisticated chemical compounds that are used in diapers, shampoos, truck bed liners, makeup, crayons and hundreds more!

As the second largest employer in the state, ExxonMobil's daily challenges include safely operating eight interconnected sites on a round-the-clock basis. They're required to constantly adjust and respond to fluctuating markets and resource availability. They oversee the production of more than 2.9 billion pounds of products annually, while constantly searching for ways to improve and optimize our operations. The Baton Rouge complex is known for more than its size. In 2016, three of the six manufacturing plants that received Distinguished Safety Awards by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers association were located at the Baton Rouge complex.

Developing the company's future leaders is vital given the complex and long-term nature of the business. The decisions their executives make and the risks they manage play out over time horizons that are often decades in length. Leadership development ensures ExxonMobil has the necessary skills and capabilities to deliver on the business strategies and facilitates development of the next generation of leaders from within the company. Given the size and scale of ExxonMobil, developing these leaders requires a thoughtful and rigorous approach.
