Job Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to drive key reliability initiatives for our cutting-edge autonomous vessels. In this pivotal role, you will lead efforts in design reliability, focusing on predictive analysis, proactive failure modes and effects analysis, and comprehensive validation and qualification testing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze test results and field data, identifying opportunities for enhancing product design, optimizing manufacturing processes, and refining maintenance procedures. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and performance of our innovative maritime technology as we advance towards the future of autonomous vessels.
Responsibilities
* Support Design & Development Engineers as a critical partner to identify risk as early as possible through tools such as Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Physics of Failure Methodologies, and Analysis + Test Data Reviews in R&D, then coordinate mitigation action plans to proactively lead the Design Reliability Effort for your assigned product or product area.
* Support the Design Requirements Process as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure teams adhere to our Hardware Design Best Practices, and Analysis best practices.
* Lead, Draft, and tailor Validation Test Plans and Qualification Test Plans with support from the Chief Architect, Product Manager, and Design and execute with Test Engineer(s) for new products.
* Support Development Milestone Reviews such as Drawing Reviews, PDR, CDR, QDR, and support the production hand off process with Quality Engineering.
* Lead root cause analysis/failure investigation, and corrective action for issues found during R&D and Qualification testing alongside the Development, Quality and Test Engineering Teams.
* Lead acceptance test requirements for production and partner with Quality Engineering for incorporating into the end to end assembly plan.
* Lead development of preventive maintenance plans for all product variants.
* Integrate with systems engineering to identify and negotiate design requirements.
* Host regular metrics reviews to highlight key problem areas for deployed products. Propose and coordinate corrective actions to closure. Act as the lead liaison to close all communication feedback loops between the Deployment Operations Team and the Development Engineering Teams.
* Host regular corrective action reviews to ensure lessons learned are communicated with all stakeholders, and that all actions have been implemented in a timely manner.
* Adhere to processes, procedures and industry standards such as ANSY Y14.5, ISO, ISO 9001.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 3-5 years Industry Experience as a Reliability Engineer, Design Engineer, Development Engineer, or Test Engineer
* B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, or Electrical Engineering
* Experience working on Advanced Hardware Systems, autonomous ground systems, and complex electronics systems.
* Experience with Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis Methodologies, Corrective Action Management, and Risk management.
* Experience outlining test plan requirements, debugging electrical systems, working with thermal and RF mitigations, and Injection molding.
* Ability to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
* M.S. Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems, or Electrical Engineering
* Experience with Analysis tools such as Matlab, Excel, ANSYS
* Past experience with Jama and Arena PLM systems.
* Hands on test engineering experience including data collection
* Modeling/CAD Experience, preferably SOLIDWORKS
* HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing), Environmental Testing, and/or Mechanical Loads Testing Experience
* Aircraft, Spacecraft, or UAV Operations Experience
* Technical writing experience developing standards, specifications, user guides, and policies
* Requirements decomposition experience for Software & Hardware
