Position: Mechanical Technician
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm
Pay Rate: $35
Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Technician is directly responsible to the Mechanical Foreman for ensuring that all mechanical equipment within the plant is maintained and operates to the highest standards. They will be both knowledgeable and qualified to carry out their designated work. All work and tasks are to be performed in a safe and efficient manner. A successful Mechanical Technician is a fast learner, self-motivated, and has the ability to work under pressure in varying conditions. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform daily activities as organized and planned by the Mechanical Foreman
- Collaborate with a small team of technicians
- Become familiar with the operation and equipment of the plant
- Demonstrate complete awareness of the direct safety hazards involved with any particular job assignment and all other hazards in and around the plant
- Ensure all applicable codes, standards and regulations are met
- Commitment to health and safety while performing all aspects of their duties and responsibilities
Duties:
- Assist in executing controlled startups and shut downs of the plant under supervision from management
- Perform maintenance routines and equipment repairs on all mechanical equipment with or without supervision
- Inform Mechanical Foreman for any defects
- Reporting all defects on the MMS software
- Ensure all planned maintenance is carried out effectively
- Ensure breakdowns and defects are handled in a timely fashion
- Ensure all plant equipment is maintained in accordance with the Mechanical Foreman guidelines
- Ability to identify and prevent mechanical equipment malfunctions down to component level
- Ability to follow instructions given by the Mechanical Foreman
- Maintain all plant and equipment integrity
- Monitoring the performance and operation of the plant through the SCADA Interface
- Identify and notify the Mechanical Foreman of any irregularities found during working hours
- Run performance test on RO stands as required
- Rectify defects that are recorded in the defects book
- Maintain an organized tool and workshop area
- Assist in the clean-up of the RO facility and around the plant
- Perform any new installations and/or fabrication of modular units
- Ensure work is performed properly and safety
- Attend any training relating to the plant at the discretion of the company

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Previous experience in an industrial environment working on equipment such as: motors, pumps, and different types of valves
- Experience with instruments such as: flow, pH, pressure, conductivity meters, etc. is a plus
- Experience working in the operations of RO plants preferred
- Possession of a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to read and understand manuals in English
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and P&ID preferred
- Experience using computer system such as: CMMS, Microsoft office is a plus
- Ability to work weekends, overtime, and holiday when necessary
- Ability to work overtime and be on 24 hour call when needed
- Successfully pass a background and drug test
- Experience with different types of welding (certified preferred but not necessary) such as: STICK, MIG, TIG and Polypropylene (PP) pipe welding will be considered as strong plus
- Pipefitter experience
- Experience handling/working with HAZARD chemicals preferred
- Knowledge of general electrical work practice is a plus
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and over 51lbs with assistance
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, push/pull, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to enter and exit small confined spaces
- Finger dexterity to work keyboard or operate tools, grasp tools and carry objects
- Ability to see in the normal range of vision with or without correction sufficient to read computer screens, documents, dials, gauges, meter-reading equipment, and operate motor vehicles and equipment
- Hear in the normal audio with or without correction
Environmental Conditions:
Industrial environment working both indoors and outdoors continuously around:
- Loud noise
- Dust
- Heat
- Salt and fresh water
- Uneven, rough or slippery surfaces
- Hazardous chemicals in solid, liquid, and vapor form
- Toxic materials
- High and low voltage electricity
- Equipment under high pressure
- Heavy equipment
- Heights above 5 feet
Requirements:
- Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
- Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards
- Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
