Job Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position reports directly to the Director of Media Services and Professional Development. It provides professional development for staff and support for students in integrating educational technology in the classroom environment. It also helps support the daily operations of the library media center and provides event support that may result in a variable work schedule. The position works cooperatively with another Media Production Technician.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborating with the LMC staff on school-wide activities, including video projects and other LMC/Professional Development initiatives

2. Responsible for the installation and troubleshooting of classroom media equipment, including SMART Panels, document cameras, etc.

3. Assist students and teachers with multimedia projects in the library, including making and editing short films and operating 3D and large format poster printers.

4. Responsible for an annual classroom and common area media technology inventory and identify replacement and upgrade needs.

5. Maintain a current inventory of all classroom and common area media equipment using Follett Resource manager

6. Manage event setup and support, which may occur outside of school hours. This includes setting up, streaming, and recording monthly School Committee Meetings.

7. Instruct teachers on using media technology, including but not limited to document cameras, SMART equipment and software, Google suite applications, Peardeck, Kahoot!, Kami, GoGuardian, Clever, SORA, etc.

8. Assist in creating and uploading information to the LMC web page and building monitor.

9. Provide classroom support on student use of media technology in collaboration with the classroom teacher

10. Create and develop training materials for staff and students in collaboration with the Director of Media Services and Professional Development, including an annual media integration resource book for staff and a tips sheet for students

11. Maintain SMART Software portal, inventory, and renewals

12. Monitor and respond to appropriate Media Requests from staff and teachers using Google Forms

13. Participate in planning and presentation of Professional Development regarding the use of media equipment, instructional software, and apps in the classrooms and shops

14. Take photo I.D.s of staff or students as needed.

15. Cover and assist at the circulation desk when needed. Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.

16. Assist with annual updates of student and staff information in the catalog and Clever portal.

17. Assist with maintaining inventory and functionality of the Feed Your Brain book vending machine

18. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in safeguarding student and staff records and information at all times.

19. Conduct oneself in an honest and ethical manner and maintain confidentiality at all times.

20. Observe and implement established policies and procedures.

21. Attend professional development and training(s) to keep skills and technology current as needed.

22. Other duties as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

1. Is responsible directly to the Director of Media & Professional Development.

2. Work cooperatively with administration, leadership team, peers, staff, students, parents/guardians, community, business and public organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associate's Degree or higher

2.3 years of related experience required to perform the job

3. Experience working with high school students and faculty required

4. Video production skills include, but are not limited to, direction, technical direction, editing, camera operation, live stream management, content creation, content management, and audio production - both in the studio and in the field, in all phases of production

5. Strong working knowledge of software including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite or similar, Microsoft Office, Mac and Windows OS

6. Google Suite experience required.

7. SMART Notebook experience preferred

8. Must be self-motivated and be able to multitask in a dynamic environment that often results in a variable work schedule

9. Basic wiring and cabling knowledge and skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing so that others will understand.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to learn and apply new technological skills and to operate equipment related to library operations. Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make

sense. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
