Salary: $39,585.00 - $53,439.75 AnnuallyLocation : Harrisburg 17120, PAJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: 00656Department: Legislative Communications OfficeOpening Date: 12/20/2024Closing Date: 1/10/2025 4:00 PM EasternDescriptionFast-paced government entity seeks Multi-Media Specialist to join an agency-style team to increase awareness and visibility of policy and legislation on multiple platforms on behalf of the Caucus and its legislators. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of creating content for different voices and platforms, multitasking and handling multiple projects with varying deadlines. Knowledge of and experience with the principles of public relations or marketing are a must. Candidate must be able to collaborate with legislative & policy staff when promoting legislative initiatives, and lawmakers & district office staff when promoting constituent service and local events. Candidate will work with Communications Office Managers, Hub Managers, Video, Photography and Digital staff to make sure caucus messaging is simple, timely and informative.This job may be eligible for telework opportunities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Research, create and distribute platform-appropriate content to promote House Members, legislation, and public policy, including news releases, talking points & speeches, direct mail, email, social media, and general photo & video content.
  • Collaborate with legislative & policy staff to ensure content is understandable and relatable.
  • Collaborate with district office staff to ensure content is localized and timely.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets in lawmakers' districts.
  • Prepare lawmakers for effective communications with the media and public.
  • Coordinate media and public outreach for legislators.
  • Travel throughout the state to attend legislative activities and manage media events as required.
  • Perform any work-related duties as assigned.
Requires onsite support of team members, staff, and Members, especially during Session. Session essential employees must be physically present at the worksite on Session Days. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism and/or communications or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of related communications experience.
  • Proven excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate professionally and appropriately with legislators, staff, media and the public.
  • Experience in producing content for both traditional print and digital mediums, including social media.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and perform under strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, social media platforms and basic web posting.
  • Integrity and good judgment; model strong ethics in all actions and contribute to a positive work environment.

The employee is exposed to the moving of mechanical parts of office equipment. Working longer than a normal working day is required based on the session schedule of the House.
