Marketing Statement

Under general supervision, coordinates audio-visual equipment and materials; advises users on selection of appropriate equipment, depending on topic and environment, and the use of said equipment; informs Senior Management of articles, stories, or other published material referencing the Philadelphia Housing Authority and its affairs; performs other related duties.

Annual salary $57,012.00

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, AND three (3) or more years experience in media relations. Experience in a public housing agency or another large public employer is preferred.

Required Knowledge of:

Operation and maintenance of various media equipment, such as cameras, computers, projects; Principles and practices of marketing and professional photography and videography; PHA organizational and management practices, applicable positive customer service policies, and operational needs; Current trends, developments and theories in social media development; General office practices and equipment.

Required Skill in:

Project planning and organization with ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision; Coordinating and supervising projects; Communications, both written and oral with the ability to prepare written and oral reports on a regular basis as required; Consistently meeting deadlines while working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; Adapting to a varied work schedule on an as-needed basis; Interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds; Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, sponsors, vendors, residents and the general public; Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software; Excellent verbal and written communication.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Driver's License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a standard office environment, with limited local travel required.

Responsibilities

Inventories and maintains supplies and equipment; catalogs available material, including films, tapes, photos and electronic files; provides user groups with updated availability of materials and equipment; Sets up and operates requested software and equipment, such as laptops, projectors, and DVD Players; Informs user groups of proper use and maintenance of equipment when needed; Researches published material from print and online media sources, news outlets, and other government agencies for references to the Philadelphia Housing Authority, its affiliates, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, or related topics; ensures Senior Management is kept abreast of findings promptly; archives all discovered material; Fulfills information requests from news media outlets; Manages media directory for press release distribution; Conducts research for and composes press releases and articles for PHA publications; Takes photographs for various Authority publications; Supports other Communications functions as needed; attends special events, assists with coordination and setup, and contributes content; Reviews completed projects to ensure that goals are met and are completed in an efficient and effective manner.; Researches and enters the agency, staff and projects in award competitions; Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of communications media and news delivery techniques; Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and PHA information; AND Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
