The Medical Assistant will provide a full range of medical assistant services within the framework of established professional standards. All medical assistant services will be provided by the medical assistant working collaboratively with support staff and under the medical direction of the physician. Accompany provider into exam room and document history and physical, enter orders for labs, imaging, medications and referrals. Document procedures, enter test results, list diagnosis, assist patient to make follow up appointment. Follow up on test results. Clerical tasks such as faxing and phone calls. Gather patient information from specialty offices. Use of electronic health record.
Job Specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have earned a medical assistant certificate from an accredited school. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date. Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of the following: current clinical practices commonly implemented by the family practice nurse; medical terminology; Service Organization and office policies and procedures; all technical equipment used; use of personal protective equipment in compliance with DCD and OSHA guidelines; rules and regulations concerning child abuse reporting and guardianship. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
