Job Title: Primecare Medical Assistant Department: Oswego Health Medical PracticeReports to: Site Manager Revision Date: 7/2/2024Job Summary: The Medical Assistant works under the direction and supervision of the onsite practice leadership, clinicians, and the general direction of the Clinical Operations Director and Executive Director in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of Oswego Health Medical Practice and established professional standards.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Room patients and prepare for clinician by recording vitals, confirming visit reason, completing medication reconciliation and documenting medical history.
- Record all patient care provided in a precise and detailed manner following established procedures for charting.
- Use electronic health record system(s) per policy and procedure as assigned.
- Assemble, use and maintain required equipment.
- Maintain proper level of stock and supplies in exam/procedure rooms.
- Regularly check emergency equipment per office policy.
- Follow policy and procedure for routine cleaning and sterilization of equipment and supplies.
- Communicate respectfully with patients and demonstrate supportive and understanding behavior when in contact with patients and/or family members.
- Utilize the chain of command to assist in resolution of patient concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as active listening skills.
- Ability to provide superior patient experience in an office setting is required.
- Ability to work effectively and communicate effectively in a team environment; continuously looking for solutions to improve patient care.
- Ability to cost-effectively manage use of resources and supplies.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree and/or three years related experience preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Health care experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Requires department specific orientation.
- Position may require some travel.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting using proper body mechanics.
- Position requires attendance, as scheduled, to ensure requirements are met.
- May require assembling, operating, checking, and maintaining equipment.
- Requires attending meetings as well as participation on committees as required.
- May require participation in in-service programs, cross-training, and mandatory classes.
- Occasionally requires assignments to other practices/schedules as needed.
- Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations.
- Maintain confidentiality in all patient, hospital, and physician-related information; demonstrate complete discretion when discussing patient information.
