Details at www.duq.edu/benefits Location: Health Services Position Status: Full-time Hours: Varied Position Number: 000580/30-0437 FLSA Status: Non-exemptPOSITION SUMMARY:The purpose of this position is to assist with back medicaloffice duties in support of patient care and related tasks and procedures asdirected by clinicians and nurses, execution of point-of-care laboratorytesting and all related Quality Control requirements and instrumentsterilization; and to assist with front medical office duties such astelephone operations, front-reception window patient assisting, and check-out;as well as immunization verification procedures. This position would alsoassist the PCHR Nurse in performing TB testing as needed.DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:Electronic Medical Records proficiencyRooming patients for physician andmid-level providers and all contingent/related functionsUpdating patient medical files withpertinent information when rooming patientsProficiency with obtaining and monitoringbasic and advanced vital signs (orthostatic/Blood Pressures), balance scaleobtained weight and height, and pulse oximetryVenipuncture for send-out lab tests,including printing requisitions and labelsElectrocardiogram proficiencyCollection of other lab specimens(urine/pharyngeal swabs/capillary blood, etc.) and all appropriate and relatedon-site laboratory testingProficiency with performing in-house,point-of-care lab tests (urine dip/HcG/Rapid COVID/Strep/Influenza/MONO/BloodGlucose) and maintenance of Quality Control weekly and monthly testingProcessing of specimens collected byphysician and mid-level practitioners (e.g. different reference labspecifications [proper completion of accompanying requisition and correctpackaging and storage]).Assist with in-office surgical (simple)procedures, tray set-up and equipment procurement appropriate to procedure aswell as local anesthesia preparationSterile instrument autoclave-sterilizationWound care/suture removalAssistwith front office and related EMR function with regard to patient and/orreception area attendanceTelephoneinitial triage and subsequent referral to RN triage as necessarySchedulingof patients in HER system and assisting with external referrals for specialistappointmentsCheck-ins,walk-ins, general questions, telephone calls, insurance card verification,prior-authorization, check-out and fee collection, taking phone calls,screening calls and patient schedule maintenance in absence of front officestaff for back-up/lunch and vacation relief etc.Inventorymaintenance/Stock replenishment in exam rooms and bathroomsMedicalSupply orderingTB testing on campus with PCHRRNCompletes otherduties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum qualifications:High School/Trade School DiplomaCertificationfrom an accredited M. A.
