Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant is responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, preparing treatment rooms for examinations and assists our practitioners during medical procedures.Essential Functions:
- Room patients and updating patient information into EMR system
- Transcribe for providers during exams
- Assist with biopsies and select surgical procedures
- Educate patients on treatment plans
- Assist with cosmetic procedures
- Complete prior authorizations for prescriptions, biologics, and procedures
- Stock rooms with necessary supplies
- Report biopsy, culture and/or lab results to patients via phone if directed by provider
- Sanitize all work areas throughout the day and after each patient
- Send patient visit notes to referring provider/PCP
- Answer incoming calls when not in a room with a provider
- Assist office staff with front end tasks if needed
- Other duties as assigned
RequirementsEducation, Skills, and Experience:
- High School Diploma required
- Must have certification from a Medical Assistant Program
- 1-3 years of relevant medical / surgical practice experience
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service attitude
- Experience with practice management software (ie EMA) and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
