Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Floating Hospital is seeking an experienced full-time, Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced team. The successful candidate must be bilingual; fluent in English and Spanish, to successfully communicate with the purpose of providing quality medical care to all patients who seek out services.The Floating Hospital provides exceptional and compassionate healthcare to families in need. The Floating Hospital welcomes individuals of all ages, from infants, school age children (5+), youth and adults.Under the supervision of the Clinic Flow Manager and the Head Medical Assistant, the MA is responsible for the functions listed below: Implements Patient Care protocols including vital signs, specimen collection, PPD placement and/or reading, hearing and vision testing as directed Follows and demonstrates strict infection control guidelines to ensure proper clinic environment Assists clinicians/providers during patient evaluations as needed, including acting as chaperone Performs phlebotomy Administers PPD's as ordered and as needed Obtains and processes laboratory specimens, per protocols Reviews chart prior to patient's departure for follow-up appointments, prescriptions and/or referrals Communicates with Scheduling Department to coordinate health care for clients Ensures that all patients have been assessed and have understanding of all instructions prior to leaving the clinic Participates with clinical staff for in-service training, to ensure that nursing staff functions meet quality improvement standards Attends supervision, conferences, and agency meetings as directed by Clinic Flow Manager Implements recommendations from the Quality Improvement Team and Infection Control Committee, as requested Disposes of medical and hazardous waste, as per OSHA guidelines and clinic protocols Maintains temperature logbooks, medication inventory logs of lab and PPD log, quality control logs including for and CLIA-waived labsRequirementsBACKGROUND AND EDUCATIONExperience: 3 to 5 years' experience in the nursing profession. Experience working with ages from infants to adults.Education/Certification: Medical Assistant certification; appropriate certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.Salary Description $23 per hour
