Description: Starting Wage: $15.76/hr. ($16.51/hr. Certified MA) Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm only- no evenings and weekends Currently, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant who will work closely with medical providers to establish rapport with patients through connection and provision of optimal patient care in a care team environment. Your role as a medical assistant in creating an excellent patient experience is essential. Essential Job Duties: Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Third Street Family Health Services. Takes personal responsibility to promote health equity. Provides care without judgment. Responds to patient/client requests as appropriate. Competently utilizes the electronic health record. Correctly routes patient and client communication through appropriate channels as per organizational policy. Promote, educate and leverage technology to ensure patient satisfaction, collaboration, and continuity of care. Requires a high level of discretion as related to privacy and confidentiality. Endeavor to provide adequate notice of time away from work. Efficiently welcomes, screens and cares for patients. Identifies patient needs and communicates those needs to the provider in preparation for the exam. Obtains vital signs and specimens for testing as per organizational policy protocol and professional training and provider direction. Assesses patient's physical and cognitive capabilities, providing assistance as indicated. Assists providers within office procedures which may include women's health exams, suturing, lesion removals with biopsy, use of sterile field, cryotherapy, chemical cautery, and others. Performs point of care testing which may include EKG, urine drug screens, hemoglobin A1C, urine pregnancy test, and stool hemoccult. Provides medically accurate patient education as directed by provider. Initiates referrals, schedules appointments, and documents all activity in the electronic health record according to organizational policy. Documents correspondence and test results in the medical record with respect to patient confidentiality according to organization policy. Responsible for adherence to medication management protocols. Responsible to maintain the safety and orderly working environment of the medication room and medical supply rooms. Takes responsibility for maintaining a safe and orderly working environment. Closely monitors of medical equipment and instruments. Responsible for restocking supplies as indicated. Assists in the training and orientation of new team members. Be a positive role model for all health center staff. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Vital signs measurement (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rate) Phlebotomy Injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal) Specimen collection and processing (urine, blood, other bodily fluids) Basic wound care and dressing changes Administrative Skills: Electronic Health Record (EHR) management Phone calls and correspondence Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues Active listening skills Empathy and sensitivity towards patients' needs and concerns Clear and concise explanation of procedures and instructions Collaborating with other healthcare professionals Knowledge Base: Basic anatomy and physiology Medical terminology Pharmacology basics Infection control practices Medical ethics and patient confidentiality OSHA regulations and safety protocols Legal requirements in healthcare documentation and procedures Interpersonal Skills: Teamwork and collaboration within a healthcare team Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment Professionalism and discretion Conflict resolution skills Cultural competence and awareness of diversity in patient populations Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Recognizing abnormal findings and reporting them promptly Responding appropriately to emergencies or unexpected situations Following established protocols and seeking guidance when necessary Identifying opportunities for process improvement in clinical and administrative workflows Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is required.
