Total Health Care, Inc.Title: Medical Assistant (MA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)Job Class Specification/Job DescriptionGrade: TBDFLSA: Non-ExemptFinancial Disclosure: May be required to fileDesignation as Essential Personnel: NoJob SummaryReporting to the Clinical Manager or Program Director and/or their designee, the Medical Assistant (MA) and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) are responsiblefor performing physician support services that help ensure thatthe medical centers run efficiently. The Total Health Care MA/CMAis an integral member of the healthcare team and is recognized as being one of thefirst clinical staff to engage with a patient during a provider visit. The toneset for the visit by the MA/CMA can contribute to the overall impression of theclinic and influence how the patient engages with the care team.General responsibilities for all medical assistants may include both administrative aswell as clinical duties. Administrative duties involve collecting demographicand payment information from Total Health Care's (THC) patients at point ofservice, verifying and entering insurance information into THC's ElectronicMedical Records (EMR) systems (dental, CESH, substance abuse, or medical),patient registration, scheduling appointments, processing encounters, andassisting with the reduction of unnecessary write-offs and negative adjustmentsfor uncollectible charges. Clinical activities include performing necessaryclinical assessments such as vital signs and POC testing, giving injections,performing EKG's, assisting with procedures, and documenting clinicalactivities in accordance with governmental and institutional guidelines andprotocols.Licenses and CertificationsCompletion of an approved Medical Assistant programCompletion of a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification Exam for Certified Medical AssistantsPhysical DemandsAbility to lift, carry, push or pull heavy objects in excess of 75lbs as well as squat,walk, climb, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, grasp, reach, pull andrepetitive motions.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
