As a Youth Development Specialist, you will supervise and interact with clients in a manner that ensures the client's safety and security.Job Duties:• Administers prescriptions or over the counter medications, first aid, and triages to clients asneeded on the shift, under the supervision and in collaboration with appropriate medical staff.• Completes the medical intake process including measuring vital signs and initial healthassessments.• Initiates, maintains, and files medical information in client medical files.• Orders and maintains stock and prescription medications and medical supplies throughout theprogram.• Escorts clients to off site medical appointments and assists with medical providers whennecessary.• Performs daily assessments of program medical issues and consults or coordinates withapprop1iate medical staff members as required to ensure medical department operations arecompleted.• Composes routine letters, correspondence, memos, reports, and other confidential information toplacing agencies, contracted medical providers and guardians.• Maintains medical statistical data and completes monthly reports as assigned• Completes the medical billing process and provides accurate medical insurance information tocontracted medical providers.• Archives medical records and processes all requests for medical infom1ation.• Initiates and processes medical referrals and transportation requests.• Assists with staff and client education and training.• Performs and completes all duties of a Medical Technician as required.• Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.• Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.Hiring Requirements:The following education requirements are acceptable for this classification including:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least three years of related experience.
- Certified Medical Assistant (highly preferred)
- Medical Office experience (highly preferred)
- At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary,FBI).
- Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
- Valid driver's license from employee's state of residence.
- Valid registered vehicle insurance.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
