Job Description:
Southern Tier AIDS Program, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant based in our Norwich office. This position provides services to participants of the Mobile Syringe Exchange Program following established standards and practices. Primary tasks include working with individuals with Opiate Use Disorder in the low-threshold Buprenorphine program, integrated HIV, Hep-C and other STI testing along with inventory and supply orders, individual education, as well as linkage and referral services.The starting salary for this position includes a per hour bump as this position is budgeted for less than two years.Salary:$22/hour working 35-hours per week, may vary depending upon experienceExcellent benefits package including: life insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, medical and dental insurance, flexible spending plan and generous time off (24 days annually + 11 paid holidays)Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred.Bachelor's degree in Health, Education, Social Work, Liberal Arts, a related field; or Associate'sdegree in Health, Education, Social Work, Liberal Arts, a related field, with a minimum two years of professional experience in a human services or community based organization.Previous experience working with people who actively use substances and or syringe exchange service experience highly preferred.Experience in acute care nursing preferred.Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding tocorrespondence.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Ability to communicate clearly. Must have a working knowledge and acceptanceof a harm reduction philosophy.This individual is responsible for meeting the transportation and insurability requirements of this job.
