Job Type Full-timeDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThis position provides quality service to patients in the clinic and via alternate communication methods (telephone, email, etc.) Medical Assistants/Nurse Aides assist the medical providers, serve as liaisons between patients and providers, and perform Medical Reception, and Patient Portal tasks (reception, telephone, scheduling) as needed.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThis position reports to the Medical Assistant Manager. No other roles report to this position.DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSWhile living and demonstrating our Core Values, the Medical Assistant/Nurse Aide will:Become familiar with provider tendencies and provider's established patient's conditionsHave knowledge of the Patient Centered Medical Home conceptDistribute Patient AgendaComplete medication reconciliation every visit, including over the counter medsComplete Family and Social historiesMove patients from waiting room to treatment roomPerform vital signs, acquiring any recent test results, and ascertain reason for visitPrepare patient and gathering all necessary informationReport any changes observed in condition or behavior of patientPrepare room for the practitionerPerform simple procedures according to Wright Center medical policy/proceduresGive inoculations; draw blood, EKGs and /or any other provider requestsParticipate in quality assurance activities to monitor and improve patient care qualityComplete any forms or growth charts as appropriate before practitioner sees patientAssist with examination, diagnostic and treatment proceduresEnter requisitions in EMRPrepare and send out specimensStock treatment rooms and all clinical areas as needed on a daily basis; alerting Practice Administrator of any supplies that need to be orderedKeep all exam rooms, hall, and lab area neat and cleanFollow all standing orders as neededFacilitate spirometry, audiometry, BP checks, allergy shots, UA/UC, urine drug screens and other procedures that are necessaryAttend all staff meetingsProvide back-up to other co-workers as necessaryUnderstand and adhere to professional office standardsBe familiar with and implementing all office policies and proceduresParticipate when appropriate in unit-based quality initiativesPerform Laboratory testingMaintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and in compliance with legal regulationsComply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and other hazardous substancesPrepare and administer medications and injections per providerMake timely call backs and inform patients of their test resultsWork in close support of clinic medical director, physicians, nurses, care manager and other providersBecome familiar with HIPAA policies regarding privacy and security of patient health information that will be exercised by this position at all timesBe responsible for registering and activating patients on their individual portal accountsAssist and guide patients to troubleshoot issues related to portal usageSchedule patient appointments and follow-up visitsAnswer and return phone callsIntake and check out of patientsEnsure copays are collected at time of visitCreate triages within the EMR systemManage patient information in Electronic Medical Records systemParticipate in late night, weekend, and holiday rotation schedulePerform other duties as assigned RequirementsQUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience in healthcare preferred (1-3 years)Experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office practice setting preferredHigh school graduate or equivalent requiredGraduate of a program for Medical Assistant/Administrative Medical Assistant/Nurse Aide requiredDesignation as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferredBasic Life Support/CPR certification requiredStrong written and oral communications and interpersonal skillsMust have working knowledge of electronic medical recordsComputer knowledge and skills requiredAbility to work independently and as a teamAbility to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidaysAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentGood judgment and decision-making skillsComfortable discussing sensitive health issues with patientsAbility to uphold patient confidentiality with the utmost professionalism
