Description Position at MedExpress Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring the well-being of patients and for providing a positive, supportive environment for patients and other staff while working in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, front office and clinical staff. The successful Medical Assistant will have strong communication skills and a dedication to customer service and patient care.This role is center-based and requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. It requires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Hours may vary based on location, patient volume, and business needs.Our teams utilize a collaborative working model to build connections across our centers and communities. The primary center for this position is [LOCATION], though you may also operate in other local work sites on an as needed basis.Job Requirements EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent, requiredGraduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferredWork ExperienceMedical Assistant experience preferredFront Desk experience preferredRequired Licenses/Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).One of the following certifications is required (or must obtain within 15 months of hire):CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (verified through NHA, National Healthcareer Association)CMA- Certified Medical Assistant (verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistant)RMA- Registered Medical Assistant (verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists or AAH, American Allied Health)NCMA- National Certified Medical Assistant (verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing)NRCMA - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (verified through the National Association for Health Professionals)Additionally, CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date and must be kept active in lieu of MA certification within the first 15 months of hire. In lieu of an approved MA Certification, we will also except the following certifications at the time of hire: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RNEMT - Emergency Medical Technician (verified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)CNA - Certified Nursing AssistantPrimary Responsibilities: Complete provider orders per state and provider regulationsPerform Clinical Intake with patients to include taking and recording vital signs and patient historyAssist patients as needed with walking, transfer, specimen collection, exam preparation, etc.Complete occupational health testing including such services as urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, hair testing and physicalsComplete patient referrals and patient callbacks dailyProper, concise and complete EMR documentation and paper based documentation for all assessments and proceduresOther duties as assigned such as new models of care and new types of procedures, etc.Manage inventory of supplies; restock exam/procedure roomsMaintain clinical supplies and equipment and ensure proper storage of biohazardsPrepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to protocolClean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
