BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the guidance of MD, NP, PA, RN or LPN the MA functions in accordance with site-specific policies, and procedures and establishes ethics of nursing care. The MA places patients in exam rooms, takes vital signs, and performs height/weight measurements, eye tests, and other testing at the MD's request and direction. The MA will perform phlebotomies and prepare the collection for Laboratory testing. In addition, the MA's are responsible for setting up sterile fields in preparation for invasive procedures and processes specimens for lab testing and appropriately cleans and prepares reusable equipment for re-sterilization. The MA also records info in the medical record, maintains supplies, and assists the MD, NP, or PA as desired. The Medical Assistant checks medical equipment daily.

· Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton's Employee Health Services*
· Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
· Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
· Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
*The Human Resources department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
