Must be available to work additional hours as needed.Who May Apply?All persons legally authorized to work in the United States* will be filling vacancies at Garcia, Harte, and McDonald LibrariesResponsibilitiesThe Youth Services Librarian will have thorough knowledge of children's and adolescent literature, library reference methods and digital literacy skills. Responsible for planning and implementing activities and services which fulfill the diverse educational, recreational and personal needs of youth.* Provide services and spaces appropriate to the developmental needs of children.* Provide a variety of programs including story time, book talks, workshops, puppet shows, craft and STREAM activities and library orientations for children.* Work with Teen Advisory Board (TAB) to plan and implement services for their age group.* Design, implement and evaluate specific programs and activities for adolescents.* Provide reference and readers advisory services to the public.* Promote library services and goals in the community by identifying and developing working relationships and joint initiatives with local agencies that service children, adolescents and their families.* Manage all aspects of collection development for children and adolescents, reference and circulating collections.* Develop, maintain and weed collections including books, audio-visual media, special materials and electronic resources according to community needs.* May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications* Requires a Bachelor's degree* Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, preferably in children's or adolescent educational setting* Master's degree from an ALA accredited school in Library Science or Library and Information Science preferred* Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited school required within one (1) year of hire as a condition of employment* A valid driver's license is required.
