PSS LLC is looking for an experienced medical biller/coder. We are offering a flexible schedule and the option to work from home. The candidate will be paid a salaried position with insurance benefit credit.
Duties & Responsibilities
Billing
· Verify coverage & eligibility for medical services
· Review medical documentation for coding accuracy
· Post charges & payments to correct amounts
· Communicate with insurance providers, patients and practitioners
· Review patient bills and correct any missing or inaccurate information
· Use billing software to prepare & transmit claims
· Collect unpaid claims and clear up discrepancies by telephone, fax or email communication
· Use of insurance carrier portals for eligibility & claims information
· Investigate and appeal claims denials
· Complete data entry to update spreadsheets and reports
· Work with patients to set up payment plans / work collections
Credentials
· Certification in Billing and/or Coding Preferred
· At least 2 years of medical billing/coding experience
· Bachelor's Degree preferred
· Compensation will be commensurate with other credentials / certifications /experience
· Candidate must be willing to submit to a background check
Required Skills
· Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid and other payer requirements and systems
· Experience with multiple EMR's a bonus
· Coding experience a plus
· Credentialing experience a plus
· Ability to be self-directed and deliver high quality work products
· Competency with CPT coding
· Experience with Orthopedic billing a plus
· Exceptional customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communication with patients and family members
· Ability to work well within a team environment
· Ability to triage priorities and handle conflict in a reasonable manner
· Problem solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals and collections
· Familiarity and adherence to patient confidentiality as per the HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) of 1996
Job Type: Full time, salaried
Compensation: Base salary $40,000-$75,000 (dependent on extent of experience & credentials) plus annual bonus, vacation/personal time and medical insurance credit
