ABOUT THIS POSITION
Since 1985,the Phoenix Fire Department has provided 9-1-1 ambulance services to the citizens of Phoenix. In 2023, the Phoenix Fire Department transported over 96,000 patients in response to EMS (Emergency Medical Services) calls, resulting in charges of $116 million. The fees associated with ambulance transportation are user-based and require a complete billing and collection operation. Account Clerk IIIs perform various clerical tasks ensuring the cleanest billing documents available. They correspond with customers, hospitals, and insurance companies to obtain a speedy revenue recovery and an exceptional collection rate. ETS manages multiple medical and billing documents in compliance with both Federal and State confidentiality laws.
The Account Clerk III duties are performed within closely controlled timelines. Daily batches of tickets are processed and produced for billing. Individual accounts are constantly updated and collected. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Search for and verify patient information (name, address, phone, etc.)
* Verify insurance eligibility.
* Prepare and reconcile daily billing batches.
* Answer phone calls from patients, insurances, and other associated parties.
* Review information from documents received from hospitals and patients, and update accounts accordingly.
* Receive and process credit card payments (phone / mail).
This is an in-person position and enjoys a 40-hour Monday through Friday work schedule.
SALARY
Pay Range: $20.02 to $29.58 per hour.
Hiring Range: $20.02 to $26.83 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Three years of bookkeeping and clerical accounting experience,
* including experience in preparing financial reports,
* supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and accounting.
* Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
* Medical office experience.
* Medical billing and coding experience.
* Medical insurance eligibility experience.
* Ambulance transport billing experience.
* Experience using Respond billing software.
