Job SummaryThis individual is responsible for timely billing of insurance claims to insurance companies, state programs, patients, and other payers.

Work Functions & Responsibilities

  • Data Entry and Updating trip/patient and insurance information into system
  • Insurance coverage verifications
  • Investigates reasons for non-payment of past due accounts and initiates corrective action such as contacting the patient or insurer directly to ascertain account status
  • Performs prior authorization reviews/submissions, as appropriate
  • Answers patient billing questions, as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 to 5 years of clerical experience, preferably in an insurance claim processing department or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in business administration, accounting or health care finance administration preferred.
