To ensure the medical equipment is operating according to manufactures specifications and design to ensure the best outcomes for the patient population.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Inspect and test malfunctioning medical or related equipment, following manufacturers' specifications and using test and analysis instruments. 2. Test or calibrate components or equipment, following manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, using hand tools, power tools, or measuring devices. 3. Keep records of service requests, maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment. 4. Perform preventive maintenance or service, such as cleaning, lubricating, or adjusting equipment. 5. Test, evaluate, and classify excess or in-use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition, in accordance with regulations. 6. Examine medical equipment or facility's structural environment and check for proper use of equipment to protect patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards and to ensure compliance with safety regulations. 7. Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair, or replace defective parts, such as motors, clutches, or transformers. 8. Plan and carry out work assignments, using blueprints, schematic drawings, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, or liquid or air flow sheets, following prescribed regulations, directives, or other instructions as required. 9. Research catalogs or repair part lists to locate sources for repair parts, requisitioning parts and recording their receipt. 10. Solder loose connections, using soldering iron. 11. Explain or demonstrate correct operation or preventive maintenance of medical equipment to end user. 12. Contribute expertise to develop medical maintenance standard operating procedures. 13. Evaluate technical specifications to identify equipment or systems best suited for intended use and possible purchase, based on specifications, user needs, or technical requirements. 14. Study technical manuals or attend training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge. 15. Supplemental Computer power and space requirements for installing medical, dental, or related equipment and install units to manufacturers' specifications. 16. Substitute parts or major new items to modify equipment to meet unique operational or research needs, working from job orders, sketches, modification orders, samples, or discussions with operating officials. 17. Repair shop equipment, furniture, or hospital equipment, including broken parts or replacing missing parts, or bring item into local shop for major repairs.18. Responsible to order parts, receive parts and work with the coordinating manager B to close out PO's.19. Maintain inventory levels of supplies and consumables.20. A reasonable amount of overtime may be necessary to complete monthly inspections, repairs, installations and cover the on-call schedule when required.21. Work alongside facility and information services personal to troubleshoot and repair equipment with shared responsibilities. 22. Maintain and repair inventory of Med-Surg beds, ICU beds and stretchers.Responsibilities1. High school diploma or its educational equivalent, preferably including one (1) year in electronic equipment repair, shop, general science, physics and completion of a course in electronic equipment repair and medical equipment repair in vocational, associate degree, trade or armed service school; and2. Five (5) years of satisfactory, full-time, paid experience as a Medical Equipment Repair Technician for installation, repair and preventive maintenance of medical equipment, three (3) years of which must have been in a responsible supervisory or administrative capacity; or3. Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Biomedical Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology or related discipline; and4. Three (3) years of experience servicing a broad-range of clinical/patient care equipment, devices, and network medical systems in a hospital or health care facility; or5. Three (3) years of satisfactory, full-time, paid experience as a Medical Equipment Specialist or equivalent type of experience; or6.
