The Medical Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for providing a superior patient experience by cheerfully greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, collecting payments, and performing effective general front office duties. This position is based in Tampa but will work in Wesley Chapel twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays per clinic schedule.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Makes follow up appointments in AllScripts, allowing enough time for care between appointments.
- Prepares daily charts for physicians at least one workday in advance.
- Promptly greets patients with a warm smile upon arrival, checks them in, validates insurance, verifies completeness of paperwork, gathers images/records, collects co-payments/deductibles/co-insurances at time of service, and efficiently checks them out.
- Notifies clinical teams of patient check-ins to keep clinic running smoothly.
- Reviews all charts for completeness and accuracy, collects appropriate information, and ensures proper electronic filing of HIPAA protected health information by securely scanning and indexing documents.
- May place calls to hospitals and imaging centers to request related patient results and/or imaging.
- Reconciles End-of-Day cash, checks, and credit cards.
- Performs other related duties as directed or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Advanced clerical skills, Intermediate Microsoft Outlook, Phreesia, AllScripts PM, and EHR/EMR experience preferred
- 2 years medical front desk/customer service experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of neck and spine medical terminology required
- Exudes positivity, collaborates, and self-starts with a can do attitude
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Able to reliably travel between Tampa and Wesley Chapel weekly
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions in English. Must read, write, and speak English fluently to ensure clear work-related communication and patient safety
