Job Description:
ImageCare Latham is seeking a skilled and dedicated Per Diem MRI Technologist to join our Radiology team on an as-needed basis. In this role, you will operate MRI equipment to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures for patients, while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. This is a flexible, per diem position with shifts based on patient volume and departmental needs.Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Operate MRI machines to capture high-quality images of internal body structures, ensuring precise imaging for accurate diagnosis.
  • Prepare patients for MRI procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or contraindications.
  • Position patients accurately on the MRI table to ensure optimal imaging of the targeted area while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including screening for metal implants and other contraindications, to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Adjust MRI machine settings such as field strength, pulse sequences, and imaging parameters based on the specific diagnostic requirements.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of MRI images during and after the scanning process to ensure clarity and diagnostic value.
  • Identify and correct imaging artifacts or distortions, troubleshooting issues to produce clear, usable images.
  • Continuously monitor patients during the MRI scan for signs of discomfort or adverse reactions, providing support as needed.
  • Administer intravenous contrast agents, following protocols for safe handling and patient monitoring during contrast-enhanced scans.
  • Accurately document all imaging procedures, patient interactions, and any incidents or anomalies encountered during the scan.
  • Work closely with radiologists to review imaging requirements, discuss findings, and provide additional imaging as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, including sterilization and cleaning of equipment and work areas, to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Ensure accurate and confidential management of patient records and imaging data, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Performs quality assurance testing as assigned.
  • Obtains and completes mandatory department CEUs and in-services.
  • Maintains CPR certification.

  • Registered technologist accredited in MRI with injection certification.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year AMA-approved college or technical school.
  • Valid state licensure as a MRI or radiologic technologist.
  • Must have or work towards certification.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current with continuing education requirements to maintain ARRT certification.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Must be willing to work at least one Saturday or weekend shift per month.
