Job Description Under direct supervision, responsible for providing technical skills in organizing and performing various medical laboratory procedures and clinical laboratory techniques. Responsibilities
- Performs routine laboratory procedures recognizing deviation from expected results.
- Analyzes and corrects problems with the assistance of more senior personnel.
- Performs Quality Control and calibrations on instruments.
- Performs weekly preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Accessions samples for in-house testing and referral laboratory testing.
- Secures media and supplies for clinical testing or research studies and manages supply requests.
- Assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures and in the preparation for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service for both internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of general laboratory, safety and quality control, principles, techniques, and terminology, and use of complex medical equipment.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a Laboratory Information System.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
EXPERIENCE:
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
- Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist or equivalent or eligibility to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire date is required.
