Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs laboratory procedures in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This position handles functional duties in the Pre-Analytic, Analytic, and Post-Analytic phases in the Laboratory Path of Workflow. You may be required to share the responsibility of delegating work assignments for yourself and co-workers in the absence of a supervisor or lead. Compliance with CLIA standards, specifically under 42CFR493.1495 for high complexity testing and 42CFR493.1425 for moderate complexity testing personnel, is mandatory.
Responsibilities
* Perform laboratory procedures accurately and timely.
* Handle duties in Pre-Analytic, Analytic, and Post-Analytic phases.
* Delegate work assignments for self and co-workers when necessary.
* Ensure compliance with CLIA standards for high and moderate complexity testing.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a laboratory-related science such as Biology or Chemistry.
* Successful completion of an accredited Medical Technology program.
* One year of full-time clinical laboratory experience.
* Working knowledge of general laboratory equipment (centrifuge, microscope, etc.).
* Basic computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience in Blood Bank is essential.
* Experience in Hematology and Oncology is highly desirable.
* Knowledge in Chemistry and Microbiology is a plus.
