The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for scheduling and registering patients. Must be proficient in phone/voicemail management, computer skills, communication skills, and team work. This position will also collect visit co-pays and have knowledge with insurance program requirements. Input and update patient data. Prepare patient and chart for the provider to see. This position will assist with daily clinic cleaning. Revenue cycle related duties and other duties as assigned.Roles and Responsibilities:
- Open and close the clinic, ensuring smooth operations.
- Manage phone calls, voicemails, and appointment reminder calls.
- Handle new patient registration and scheduling of new and recurring patients.
- Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and perform revenue cycle duties.
- Maintain cleanliness of the waiting room and sanitize exam rooms and equipment.
- Escort patients from the waiting room to the exam room, documenting vital signs and chief complaints.
- Demonstrate flexibility by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to assess situations and make decisions
- Must complete yearly mandatory safety in-services and/or trainings
- Must complete yearly Healthstream e-Learning Courses
- Must adhere to patient safety Red Rules and infection prevention policies
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 3 years office preferred, medical office highly preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for 4+ hours per day/shift
- Ability to carry and lift a minimum of 20#
- Ability to escort patients from waiting room to exam rooms
Location and Travel Requirements:
- Onsite at Cayuga Center for Healthy Living: 310 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850
- Shift: (Mon-Fri) - 8:00AM - 4:00 PM
Pay Range Disclosure:
- $18.00 to $22.00 per hour
