Salary: $100,000.00 Annually Location : St. Bonaventure, NY Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 202200438 Division: Student Affairs Department: Wellness Services Opening Date: 09/17/2024 Description Provides diagnosis and treatment of acute and/or routine illnesses and injuries, management of stable chronic health issues, outreach health education, and preventative medical care to the St. Bonaventure University students. Works collaboratively with both administrative and other health care professionals to insure adherence with State, Federal and University policies, procedures, standards and regulations at all times. Examples of Duties See all qualifying students presenting to the Center requesting a provider appointment even if referral to an off-campus provider or an appointment at a later date is required. Ratio of student to employee patients expected to be 80:20 during busy times of the year. Implement and evaluate the primary assessment and care procedures for students of the University community, in accordance with professional licensing. Duties will include obtaining vital signs, process laboratory requests and procedures; participate in determining condition, resources, referrals and policies, essential to delivery of nursing and medical care services, in accordance with professional licensing guidelines. 60%Provide health counseling to individuals seeking or needing this support. Recognize preventative health care, health promotion, and wellness as an integral part of all college health services.10%Educate patient and/or families as to the nature of the disease or medical condition, and provide instructions on proper care and treatment using appropriate interpersonal skills. 10%Oversee the Health Services nursing staff and provides necessary clinical supervision and, when needed, training of new staff or developing skills in existing staff (i.e. in-service trainings).10%Assist the Associate Dean in understanding and maintaining clinical and procedural compliance in accordance with federal and New York State laws that regulate the function and daily operations of medical provider services. This includes knowing the laws regarding the provision of medical services including but not limited to the prescribing of non-controlled and (if applicable to Center operations) controlled substances, and daily provision of services to students.5%Assist the Associate Dean in giving clinical performance reviews of nursing staff at mid-year and end-of-the-year intervals, in accordance with university policy and the goal of Center growth and development. Other duties as assigned.5%Supplemental Functions:
  • Maintain current and in good standing, depending on discipline: NYS MD licensure or NYS NP license, DEA license, CPR/BLS/ACLS certification.
  • Participate as member and/or chairperson on department and university committees as needed.
Typical QualificationsMaster's Degree in Nursing or Medical Doctorate. 3 years ambulatory care experience. Certification and/or Licensure
  • Valid State of New York license as a Nurse Practitioner or Medical Doctor
  • Prescriptive authority in the State of New York.
  • Collaborating Physician or Collaborative Relationships Attestation form (if NP)
  • CPR and/or ACLS certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Clear understanding of HIPPA laws and confidentiality.
  • Medical information and treatment procedures and protocols.
  • Interview, counseling, diagnosis and treatment of adults 17rs and up.
  • Promotion, dissemination, and practice of proactive Wellness education.
  • Supervisory methods, techniques, and practices, including staff development.
  • Clinic practice procedures including patient charting and obtaining patient histories.
  • University, state and federal applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate philosophy and objectives of University Health Services to patients, families, and other groups.
  • Ability to identify the scope of practice permitted by state and federal laws and regulations and professional practice standards.
  • Ability to participate in occasional off-hours campus events.
  • Foster and maintain a cooperative team environment.
  • Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful University community.
  • Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the University.
