For more information, please visit www.shiftstigma.organd www.wholewomanshealth.com SummaryThe Medical Receptionist, reporting directly to the Clinic Manager, will maintain the front desk using excellent organization and administrative skills. The Medical Receptionist is expected to be compassionate and discrete with superb time management and record-keeping skills. In the medical receptionist role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, assisting them before they see their doctors. A key element in performing this role is to multitask so you can accomplish all clerical tasks promptly. Success in this role will be demonstrated by ensuring patients are directed to their designated areas as quickly as possible.Essential FunctionsAdministrative:
  • Initiates confirmation of patient appointment daily / reschedules if needed
  • Provides any necessary instructions/directions needed for the appointment.
  • Greeting patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner.
  • Checks patient into EHR system
  • Updates patient information in EHR (such as insurance cards, driver's license, physician patient will be seeing)
  • Administers iPad for completion of personal health information including consent forms.
  • Selects appropriate EHR paperwork based on appointment data.
  • Answers phones in a pleasant manner and deals with customer needs expeditiously.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Monitor the waiting room atmosphere, temperature, cups for water, etc.
Patient Support:
  • Keep track of the day's session: who has been seen and who has not. Anticipate the flow of patients.
  • Efficiently solve problems that affect patient care and/or clinic.
  • Schedule patient appointments when needed.
  • Assist patients in obtaining work notes, and referral resources as needed.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information per HIPAA regulations.
Experience and General Requirements
  • Possess an interest in reproductive equity and a commitment to the welfare of the whole person.
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals in a friendly and professional manner, even during periods of high business activity.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional medical office experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to make decisions within the scope of assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible
  • Comfortable working independently. Must be a self-starter.
  • Possess a knowledge of (EHR) electronic health records - how they are maintained and managed.
  • Technologically literate with computer and internet skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and seek solutions to problems promptly and efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to details and demonstrated detailed record keeping.
  • Able to accept direction from management, ask questions, and participate fully in the learning process.
  • Bilingual speakers are preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must possess the ability and capability to perform any task in the office.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs. or more, be able to physically move through the office unaided
  • Must have excellent visual and hearing acuity.
