We?re hiring a Medical Receptionist to join our Jersey City, NJ team.?Vanguard Medical Group is an independent primary care group practice with 11 offices in Northern and Central New Jersey. This is a position with a compensation rate of 18.00 - 21.00 per hour, depending on years of experience. This individual must be able to work one evening per week and rotational Saturday shifts.?About the role:The Medical Receptionist will assist Vanguard patients and other visitors. The Medical Receptionist?s primary job duties will include greeting and checking in patients, answering questions, collecting patient co-pays, assist with billing, processing paperwork, and scheduling appointments. They will also help keep our records and work areas clean and organized, as well as ensure our office provides a welcoming environment for our patients.?Job Responsibilities:* Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, whether in person or over the phone and acts as a liaison between patient and provider.* Maintains a polite, consistent phone manner using pleasant telephone etiquette.* Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient information including personal and financial information during the check in process.* Guides patients through the electronic check in process, if needed.* Facilitates patient flow by notifying the Medical Assistants of patient arrival, being aware of delays, and clearly communicating status with patients and clinical staff.* Medical billing duties including collecting and posting payments, managing deposits as needed, reviewing patient accounts, collecting patient balances, and maintaining cash receipts and daily reconciliation processes to ensure proper handling of payments received* Assist with billing physician services, reviewing EOBs, and explain patient financial responsibilities* Enter, maintain, report all medical history, medical coding, and claims filing using Athena Health system* Promptly investigate all outpatient denials pertaining to diagnosis and procedure coding* Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment.* Protects patient confidentiality by ensuring protected health information is secured, not visible to other patients and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.* Obtains pre-certification for any required procedures or medications.* Maintains clear and timely written and verbal communications between patient and provider via phone or Taskman.* Relays information clearly to patient on preparation for appointments, lab tests, procedures, and referrals.* Keeps the reception area clean, organized, and ready at the start of each working day.* Performs all other clerical duties as assigned by Vanguard Medical Group.
