About Us
Duties & Responsibilities
Provides secretarial support to unit as directed by the Unit Manager, DON and ADON.
Utilizes computer systems to track information, communicate and maintain correspondence.
Performs data entry when requested.
Maintains logs, policies, records, and notes in accordance with department procedures.
Interacts with residents and staff as necessary to carry out the objectives of the department.
Maintains clean work area by keeping office area neat and orderly
Acknowledges visitors who enter and exit the facility
Produces reports as requested by the Manager.
Schedules and coordinates labs and appointments.
Responds to phone calls, directs phone calls, records messages.
Other duties as assigned by nursing management

The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that medical records are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. He/She also ensures that information contained in the record is complete, accurate and only available to authorized personnel. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Records Department. Provides ICD-9/10 and CPT codes for all diagnoses and procedures in the medical record. Abstracting, analyzing, auditing, and coding of all medical records in a timely manner. Oversees the release of medical record information, archiving/storage of medical records, and the transcription/dictation processing. Collects and analyzes data for quality improvement. Completes quarterly performance improvement reports in a timely manner. Suggests changes to Medical Record policies and procedures. Functions as a member on assigned committees. Works with Medical Staffing Coordinator on mass mailings and filing projects. Works closely with nursing, social work, and finance to ensure PPS compliance and unit profitability. Looks to become highly involved in areas outside specific job function.
Position Requirements: Must possess 2 years of college or equivalent experience
Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills and the ability to utilize information Systems effectively (such as Microsoft Office Windows products, Outlook, 3M, etc.) is required. Knowledge of medical terminology, previous experience with electronic health record systems, and 3 years of Health Information Management supervisory experience is preferred.
