Salary: $15.00 HourlyLocation : Raleigh, NCJob Type: Part-TimeJob Number: 2024-01118Department: PRCR - RecreationOpening Date: 12/20/2024Closing Date: 2/28/2025 11:59 PM EasternJob DescriptionPosition is responsible for supervising participants with medical support needs, implementing support as outlined in medical management plans, and documenting support provided. Medical support may be needed for participants with conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, seizure disorders, digestive disorders, cardiac conditions etc. In some situations, these conditions occur dually with other behavioral, intellectual, developmental, or medical disability diagnoses. Position and hours: This position will support participants in various summer camp programs during the months of June, July and August. Mandatory meetings and required trainings will begin mid-May (may be day, evenings, or weekends).? Position hours typically range from 30-50 hours per week. Daily schedule will fall between the hours of 7am - 6:30pm, Monday - Friday. Staff may be assigned to various locations as needed to provide support. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor participant during program activities to ensure safety and well-being;
  • Review and follow participants' (1 or more) individual medical management plan;
  • Assist with administration of medication as outlined in the medical management plan (routine medication, dosed injection, emergency medication, etc.);
  • Assist with tests and make treatment/intervention decisions as outlined in the medical management plan;
  • Document support provided;
  • Attend specialized training with healthcare providers and/or the parent/guardian;
  • Serve as lead support personnel, and communicate with team of staff and the parent/guardian/participant regarding management plan;
  • Manage materials needed for support (medications, gloves, etc.);
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding support for participant(s);
  • Communicate consistently with supervisors.
  • Additional duties as assigned
Typical QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • Completed degree, certificate or coursework in the following areas highly preferred: phlebotomy, certified nursing assistant, medical assistant, emergency medical technician, nursing school, medical school, etc.
  • 1+ years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy
  • Maintain a high standard of maturity and sensitivity
  • Exemplary and professional oral and written communication;
  • Ability to calmly and professionally manage emergency situations;
  • Ability to make appropriate situational decisions based on medical management plan;
  • Comfort with providing personal care assistance per the medical management plan;
  • Prior experience with Type 1 Diabetes, seizure disorders, digestive or urinary system disorders, and cardiac conditions is preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED training or ability to obtain upon hire;
  • Ability to complete all training requirements prior to start of camp including, a background check and controlled substance screening
  • Must have a valid NC Driver's License and good driving record
