Overview:

Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures. The Medical Technologist Nights position performs requested clinical procedures on body fluids and clinical procedures related to patient care; perform quality control, maintenance, trouble shooting on laboratory instruments; perform phlebotomy on patients from pediatrics to geriatrics; perform clerical work in the absence of a technical assistant; assist the supervisor in any capacity requested. He/She does an inventory assessment and order supplies as needed. This person performs tracking for specimens transported to Baptist and helps with the send outs to reference laboratories and receive and approve same results. Assists with trouble shooting of all instruments in the departments trained in and performs maintenance as needed. Assists in the ordering of supplies and scheduling of staff as needed. He/She takes responsibility for their laboratory department in the absence of the laboratory manager and supervisor and assists with policy/procedure writing/review. Must be able to work in these departments on night shift including 12 hr shifts

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Medical Technology (Clinical Laboratory Science) or equivalent that would qualify for Florida State Technologist license
• Two years experience is required
• Current Florida state license as a Medical Technologist
