Summary of DutiesResponsible for limited medication administration tasks and providing residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's Medication Administration Record (MAR), resident's assessment and plan of care and as directed.Essential Job Functions
Perform limited medication administration tasks as delegated by a licensed nurseProvide nursing care to residents including activities of daily livingCompare the resident's physician's order and the MARVerify the order matches the MARVerify the order, MAR, and the medication pack matchDocument appropriately on the MAR/ EMARKeep resident rooms and resident care areas clean and neatParticipate in the orientation of new residents to facilityDocument care as instructed and requiredReport all changes in the resident's condition (i.e., areas of redness, skin tears, bruising, mental status change, eating habits, etc.) to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practicalCheck each resident routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being metAssist in transporting resident to/from dining room, therapy, activity and social programs, etc., as necessary. Encourage resident to participate in activity programsPerform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructedAssist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., as necessary, utilizing facility techniquePerform other duties as directed and assume additional responsibilities as assignedResponsibilitiesTreat all residents fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respectReport all grievances and complaints voiced by residents or family to the nursing supervisor and/or charge nurseReport all allegations of resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of resident property promptly to charge nurseAssure work area is maintained in a clean and safe manner and that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform required dutiesParticipate in staff development programs and staff meetingsCreate and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environmentMaintain established organizational policies and procedures, safety, environmental standards and infection control proceduresReport all unsafe/hazardous conditions and/or defective equipment immediatelyReport occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to the supervisorMaintain confidentiality of resident information and respects residents' privacy and dignityAdhere to work assignments and work schedulesMaintain a neat appearance and adhere to dress codeComply with Corporate Compliance ProgramEducation Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Must successfully complete a board-approved Medication Assistant, Certified (MAC) education program and hold a Medication Assistant certification. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. ExperienceCertified Nursing Assistant experience preferred.Specific RequirementsMust be a Certified Nursing AssistantMust hold a Medication Assistant certificationMust be able to demonstrate basic computer skills within thirty days of employmentMust be able to read, write and speak the English languageMust possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actionMust possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general publicMust work harmoniously with other personnelMust be able to relate information concerning a resident's conditionMust possess flexibilityMust be able to follow oral and written instructionsMust demonstrate sensitivity to the special needs of residents
