POSITION SUMMARYThe Medication Safety Officer is responsible for providing strategic oversight, vision, and leadership for medication safety initiatives across AtlantiCare's acute care and oncology service lines. This position is integral in developing, implementing, and monitoring programs thatcontinuously improve medication use processes and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, in support of AtlantiCare's quality patient care objectives.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES* Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive medication safety strategy and action plan for the organization* Analyze medication safety event data, identify trends, and lead quality improvement initiatives to mitigate risks and enhance patient safety* Serve as the subject matter expert on medication safety regulations and standards, ensuring AtlantiCare's compliance through policy/procedure development, staff training, and auditing* Chair the Medication Safety Committee and may serve as Secretary to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, providing guidance and recommendations to key stakeholders* Serve as Secretary to the Diversion Surveillance Committee to implement controls and monitor for potential medication diversion* Maintain dashboards, scorecards, and action plans to track medication safety and regulatory compliance metrics across the service lines* Serve as Secretary to Continuous Quality Improvement Committee (CQI Meetings) for all Inpatient and CCI Pharmacists-in-charge* Provide coaching and education to clinical staff on medication safety best practices* Participate in the selection, implementation, and optimization of medication-related clinical decision support systems* Champion a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient-centered care* Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of emerging medication safety standards and regulationsQUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION, LICENSE, AND CERTIFICATION:* Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy required* Current license in the State of New Jersey as a Registered Pharmacist required* Master's in Business or other advanced degree preferred* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification preferred* BCPS, PGY-1 or other advanced credentials preferred* ACLS, CPR preferredEXPERIENCE:* 5+ years of experience in a hospital/health system pharmacy setting, with a focus on medication safety and regulatory affairs* Proficiency with computer, data analytic and clinical applications required* Good communication and interpersonal skills required* Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hirePERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.WORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
